Hawaiian Cultural Village

Mike and Carol Wong, both award winning gourd artisans along with Lokelani Reichert, Pelekikena of Lei Hulu of California, have been sharing their knowledge, skills and talents to the community-at-large in the traditional arts and crafts of Hawai`i since 2000.

The Cultural Village has participated at E Hula Mau, na Ho`olaule`a (Alondra Park, Las Vegas, Henderson, NV), Long Beach Sea Festival-Tiki Beach Festival, City of Cerritos Annual Family Lu`au and University of Southern California.

Mike and his son Hiwalani have held workshops in ipu hula and ipu heke for several area hula halau, elementary schools, the International Gourd Festival classes and private groups. Carol has been commissioned to do the awards for canoe clubs, Association of Hawaiian Civic Clubs, private individuals and this year for E Hula Mau. Lokelani is an instructor and has shared her talents in Iosepa, Utah as well as for other non- profit organizations.

Artisans participating in the Village will have on display Hawaiian traditional and contemporary art and crafts. Some of their items will also be for sale.
