Presentor: Euphemia Nagashima will be demonstrating Wili and Ti-Leaf lei making.

A $10.00 Lei Workshop fee will be collected at the door for materials provided. (Please bring scissors, floral clippers, and a spray bottle)

Sunday, September 2, 2007 Lei Making Contest

Each lei maker is challenged to create a lei that is reflective of the beauty and harmony of his/her love for lei making utilizing a multitude of natural material, combining technique, texture and style while blending color and feeling into the floral creation.

Eligibility & Rules

  1. Any individual may enter one lei in each category in each classification.
  2. All lei must be made in a specific Hawaiian method along with a specific color listed below and of natural plant materials: flowers, leaves, stems, and berries. Leis made of artificial materials or artificially treated and/or colored material will not be accepted. However, raffia, string, dental floss may be used to bind the lei.
  3. Lei must be wearable.
  4. Lei measurements: Lei must be 25 inches, no longer or shorter.
  5. All leis must have a 2” loop for hanging at the beginning of the lei (except for the Kipu’u) and must be accompanied with an entry form.
  6. Na Mamo®/E Hula Mau® Committee reserves the right to:
    1. Disqualify any lei which does not meet the specifications stated.
    2. Place a lei in its’ proper category.
  7. All decisions by Na Mamo®/E Hula Mau® Committee/Lei Judges are final!
  8. Leis with the exception of ALL AWARDED LEIS may be picked up between 2:00pm and 3:00 pm on Sunday, September 2nd at the E Hula Mau® Information Booth. All awarded leis become property of E Hula Mau®.

Lei Classifications: 1) Wili, 2) Haku, 3) Kui, 4) Kipu`u, 5) Hili.

Color Categories: 1) Green, 2) Orange & Yellow, 3) Mixed.
